Snowdrops at Kingston Lacy to celebrate the coming of Spring, February 2011

One of the jewels of the National Trust, Kingston Lacy Estate near Wimborne, is only a short drive from Southmead.  The Adam-style 17th century house is a national treasure in its own right, but no less so than its gardens and the extensive grounds.  The latter are beautifully maintained, and from the end of winter throughout the year they present a sea of floral displays among the mature woodlands.  National Trust volunteers run a daily service to the elderly and disadvantaged by operating a tractor-trailer tour of the estate.

Quality and accreditations

In common with all care homes in the UK, Southmead has focused on continuous improvement of the overall quality of its care services.
