Our activities
At Southmead we believe that keeping people stimulated helps keep them healthier and promotes a better quality of life. We organize a wide variety of activities throughout each month. From visiting musical entertainers to motivational exercises, there are individually focused activities as well as group ones. We provide transport to outside activities such as participation in a local weekly day centre run by Age UK.
In addition to the home based activity programme, we provide a number of landmark outings during the year. Key examples include trips around the estate and gardens at Kingston Lacy, and two cruises in Poole harbour. These are specifically tailored to permit people with limited mobility to enjoy them.
Friday is free manicure day provided by a volunteer, and our associate hairdresser visits on alternate Thursdays.
We ensure that our residents can continue to follow their religious and spiritual beliefs, without imposing upon anyone. We have long established associations with some of the Broadstone churches and we welcome them to visit those who cannot get out to services. One local church group provides a low-key nondenominational service one Sunday a month in the home.
At certain times of the year we hold special events for our relatives and other visitors too, such as the summer garden fete in August.
