The house was originally
owned by Broadstone's doctor, Dr Norman, and is still known
to some locals as "the Doctor's house". Having been
extended and adapted for use as a care home, it is thought
that Southmead has been serving the area since around the
mid 1950s.
To this day, Southmead maintains a reputation
for being a warm, friendly family home, having survived many
of the changes which saw so many similar homes disappear.
We strongly believe that there remains an important place
for such homes in the community.
